Hop blog “Squirrels Gone Nutz” August

This little cat wanted to thank one of his dear friend who was always there for him when he needed it. So he decided to sew her a nice hat for the occasion. Even if he was a little distracted by the wool balls he finally managed to make a beautiful pink beany!

Welcome to our monthly hop blog called the Squirrels Gone Nutz. If you are new to it, each month we have to make a project with supplies we don’t use enough. There is a theme and/or a technique and type of supply. This month it’s “Thank you” and “Stitching”.

So welcome to the new hoppers and for my regular viewers, thank you for stopping by today!

If you are hopping you should come from the blog of Karen and after me, I invite you to hop to the blog of V.

I don’t do “proper” stitching but I am a big fan of stitched dies. For this month, I thought I would mix the two. I bought some basic stitched dies a couple of months ago so it was the perfect occasion to use them. And I managed to stay perfectly in the theme with this adorable stamp set from Clearly Besotted I never had the chance to use before.

So first, I die cut my stitched square peg board into my Craft Perfect white paper. I decided I wanted a simple heart shape on the back of my card. So I made a draft, took a needle and luckily found some thread (it was a long shot ) and sew my heart. Although I like the result and may integrate some stitching on futur projects I don’t think I found a new calling

After that, I stamped my Clearly Besotted images and colored them with my markers. I also stamped my sentiment on the peg board with my Altenew inkpad and glued my colored images on it. I used foam pad for the cute cat.

Finally, I matted and layered the peg board with some Kraft cardstock and a stitched bigger colored cardstock square.

Et voilà !

May the craft be with you !

  1. Perfection! First, I’m loving the color combo and the large heart shaped stitching is what takes this card from cute to amazing!!! With that die, we have to get you set up with more thread!!! It has so (sew 😉) much potential! I’m with you though… I’ll stick to stamping as my main hobby though it was fun to stitch a simple design. Second, your coloring is always beautiful and you are so good at creating adorable scenes! Loved the story of the kitty too and I’m sure the recipient of the beany will love it ❤

  2. This is awesome! Until you mentioned it, I didn’t realize that the stitched x’s were in the shape of a heart — but oh how perfect that idea is! I always love the little stories you tell about your cards, too. 🙂
