Hop blog “Squirrels Gone Nutz” September

Hello everyone

Welcome to our monthly hop blog called the Squirrels Gone Nutz.

If you are new to it, each month we have to make a project with supplies we don’t use enough. There is a theme and/or a technique and type of supply. This month it’s “Neutral gender card” and “Stencil”.

So welcome to the new hoppers and for my regular viewers, thank you for stopping by today!

I am kicking this hop off today and after me, I invite you to hop to the blog of the super talented Boryanna.

For this month card, and after looking at my stash of stencils I decided to make the most of a mystery bag I bought last year. It was oriented mix media and there was plenty of Imagination Crafts products in it. So when I saw this big A4 stencil (8″ x 11″), I knew I wanted to get messy and play with textures.

So first, I die cut a stitched rectangle into my Neenah white cardstock. I inked it with 3 ink paint sprays (turquoise, yellow and green) and water.

Once it was dry, I used some parts of the stencil to add some cracks with my Peacock Feathers and Pine Needles Distress Oxide.

After that, I used the big leave from the same stencil and applied Nuvo Citrus Green embellishment mousse on it with a spatula.

I let it dry, and during this time I die cut four times my word Dream in kraft cardstock and one in grey cardstock. I glued them together and added a little of my green mousse on it. I glued my sentiment on my card.

Finally, I matted and layered my panel with a bigger grey one.

Et voilà !

May the craft be with you !

  1. You don’t do mixed media often, but when you do it always amazes me that you do it so well!!! I love the sprayed background, but the shimmery embellishment mousse leaf steals the show! I bet it looks even prettier IRL where you can appreciate all the texture and shine 💓 Love it!!!
