Welcome to our monthly hop blog called the Squirrels Gone Nutz.
If you are new to it, each month we have to make a project with supplies we don’t use enough. There is a theme and/or a technique and type of supply. This month it’s “Neutral gender card” and “Stencil”.
So welcome to the new hoppers and for my regular viewers, thank you for stopping by today!
I am kicking this hop off today and after me, I invite you to hop to the blog of the super talented Boryanna.
For this month card, and after looking at my stash of stencils I decided to make the most of a mystery bag I bought last year. It was oriented mix media and there was plenty of Imagination Crafts products in it. So when I saw this big A4 stencil (8″ x 11″), I knew I wanted to get messy and play with textures.
So first, I die cut a stitched rectangle into my Neenah white cardstock. I inked it with 3 ink paint sprays (turquoise, yellow and green) and water.
Once it was dry, I used some parts of the stencil to add some cracks with my Peacock Feathers and Pine Needles Distress Oxide.
After that, I used the big leave from the same stencil and applied Nuvo Citrus Green embellishment mousse on it with a spatula.
I let it dry, and during this time I die cut four times my word Dream in kraft cardstock and one in grey cardstock. I glued them together and added a little of my green mousse on it. I glued my sentiment on my card.
Finally, I matted and layered my panel with a bigger grey one.
Et voilà !
May the craft be with you !

GORGEOUS, with a Capital G!! I love the color combination! Fantastic!
Thank you so much Anna ! I am really happy you like it !
You don’t do mixed media often, but when you do it always amazes me that you do it so well!!! I love the sprayed background, but the shimmery embellishment mousse leaf steals the show! I bet it looks even prettier IRL where you can appreciate all the texture and shine 💓 Love it!!!
Thank you so much Karen ! I really loved making it ! And it’s the leaf that started the all project 😉
So stunning card, Lounon! Love the colors and the texture!! I agree with Karen, you should do more often mixed media 🙂 Messy background with a cute image? 😀
Thank you so much Bory ! I am definitely planning on doing more with or without cute images 😉
