Hop blog “Squirrels Gone Nutz” October

Hello everyone

Welcome to our monthly hop blog called the Squirrels Gone Nutz.

If you are new to it, each month we have to make a project with supplies we don’t use enough. There is a theme and/or a technique and type of supply. This month it’s “Galaxy background” and “Celebration”.

So welcome to the new hoppers and for my regular viewers, thank you for stopping by today!

If you are hopping you should come from the blog of the surprising V. and after me, I invite you to hop to the blog of the super talented Karen.

For this month I had the ideal Clearly Besotted stamp set. I never had the chance to use it and it was a perfect fit for the galaxy theme. For the Celebration part of the theme I choose a Birthday sentiment which can be connected to my main image ( shooting stars / wishes ).

So first, I had a play with my liquid watercolors, water and watercolor paper. Some of my inks had sparkles, metallic reflects etc… so (even we can’t see it clearly on the picture) my galaxy background has a lot of effects on it. I let it dry.

After that, I stamped my background with my Memento black onto my Xpress-it blending cardstock. I colored the scene with my markers and I fussy cut it.

Then, I stamped again my scene on my galaxy background with my Versamark inkpad and I embossed it with my WOW Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder.

I glued my colored background onto my watercolor embossed sky. I cut a rectangle into it.

I cut a bigger black rectangle and embossed my sentiment on it with the same embossing powder.

I glued my scene with foam pads on top of it.

Et voilà !

May the craft be with you !

  1. Lounon, I love your watercolored and constellation galaxy!!! No wonder you had an idea for the card so soon after the technique was picked!!! And yes, the stars lend themselves well to a birthday card. Just tell the recipient to make their birthday wish on the stars!
