Hop blog “Squirrelz Stash Bash” May

Hello everyone !

Welcome to our monthly hop blog called the Squirrels Stash bash.

Our main concept is simple : we have to make a project with supplies we don’t use enough. Each month we have a theme and a technique, sketch or type of supply to use to make our project.

So welcome to the new hoppers and for my regular viewers, thank you for stopping by today!

If you’re hoping you should come from Karen’s blog and after me, don’t forget to check Boryana’s video !

This month was all about CASING. For those who are not familiar with the concept, C.A.S.E stand for Copy And Share Everything or Copy And Selectively Edit. To sum up it’s when you decide to recreate someone design with your own style and supplies. It was my first time casing someone and I had a hard time choosing between all of Boryana’s awesome projects ! Since it’s Mermay and I haven’t got the time to make a mermaid card yet, I thought I would go with this super creative mermaid Wand.

Here is Boryana original project:

First, I used my Silhouette Studio software to make my stars shape. Then I sized my digital images to fit in it. I used various digital images from Sweet Novembers. I was super happy to have the opportunity to use this adorable mermaid. I used her mermaid friends last year but didn’t had the chance to play with her.

I printed my images and colored them with my markers. I fussy cut them.

Then, I cut one of my star into white cardstock with my Silhouette Portrait 3. I blended my Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon on it. I used my stencil with my Nuvo Glimmer Blue Topaz paste. I let it dry and I glued my mermaid, her fish friend and the sand with the chest on my star.

I used my Silhouette Portrait 3 and my We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill to write my sentiment on the other side of my star. After the foiling, I cut it and repeat the same steps : I inked it, used my stencil with my glimmer paste and glued my sand.

After that, I added some clear drop gems on my stars.

Finally, I cut two bigger stars into Tan cardstock, and layered them with my previous stars.

I glued a wood stick behind one of the stars and glued my two parts together.

Et voilà !

May the craft be with you !

  3. This is SO adorable!!!! I love that you chose something that wasn’t a card. How cool is that? I love that you added texture to the background in your own way and your coloring is always so spot on!! I also seriously love how you kept the scene going on the back of the wand! I’m loving how you took borrowed from Bory and made it your own!
